SafeCam Guide costs nothing to read. To pay for the writing and the testing, including the tokens and memberships we buy on our own cards, we’ve joined the affiliate programs some of the platforms we cover run.
What that means
If you click certain links on the site (our affiliate links) and then open an account or buy something, the platform may pay us a commission. Some programs pay us a share of what the people we send them spend over time. That’s normal in this business.
You pay exactly the same whether you use our links or not.
Spotting an affiliate link
- “Visit [platform]” buttons, and links in our recommendation boxes, are affiliate links.
- They go through an address starting with
safecamguide.com/go/before reaching the platform. - Any page with affiliate links says so near the top.
Links to our own guides, and to public sources like the FBI or the FTC, are never affiliate links.
What commissions don’t touch
Which platforms we recommend. That comes down to our testing method and nothing else.
The order. Rankings follow our published scoring.
What we write. Every platform we recommend gets a “Watch out for” section listing its weak points. And we publish guides that earn us nothing at all, like how to cancel, how to set a spending limit and how to avoid scams.
No platform can pay to be listed, to move up, or for a review, and none of them sees our content before it’s published.
Why we’re telling you
The Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines say publishers have to clearly disclose financial ties to the businesses they recommend. Law aside, a site that asks for your trust ought to be upfront about money before anything else.
