There’s no single “best” cam site. What you want for a first try is one where you feel at ease, and for most beginners that comes down to four things. It should be easy to find your way around. Prices should be clear before you pay. The billing should be discreet. And somebody should answer when you have a question.
We looked at the platforms below with those four things in mind, using our published method. They’re each good at something different, so read the “best for” line and go with whichever sounds like you.
What we looked at
We weighted things the way a newcomer would:
- Ease of use. Could someone who’s never seen a cam site find their way around in ten minutes?
- Price clarity. Are token packs, private show rates and memberships shown clearly before you commit to anything?
- Billing. Does the site tell you how the charge will look, and is the name neutral?
- Support. Can you get hold of a person by chat, email or phone, and how fast?
- Safety. Performer age checks, account security options, and a way to report problems.
Price mattered, but the cheapest site didn’t automatically come first. When you’re new, paying a little more for support that actually helps is often the better deal.
The picks
Chaturbate: start here for free
Chaturbate is the biggest free-to-watch platform, and that’s the reason it’s first. You can open the site, wander through rooms and follow the conversations without an account and without a card. Make a free account when you feel like it. You only buy tokens if you want to tip or go private.
The catch is that popular rooms get busy and the chat flies past. Rooms with fewer viewers are better for a first visit. The performer has time to talk.
LiveJasmin: calm and premium
If busy rooms put you off,
LiveJasmin is the opposite. Everything is orderly and polished, and it’s built around one-to-one private sessions. The video is consistently sharp, the performers are professional and support is open 24 hours a day.
It costs more per minute than the token sites, and apart from previewing rooms there isn’t much to do for free. Set a budget, and check the per-minute rate shown before each session.
Flirt4Free: long track record, phone support
Flirt4Free has been going since the mid-1990s, which is longer than almost anyone. Two things make it stand out for our readers. You can ring support on the phone, and the loyalty program gives regulars bonus credits. The design is a bit old-school. Some readers like it better that way.
Stripchat: best on a tablet
Stripchat has the most up-to-date design of the five and it’s lovely on an iPad or a big phone. The filters make it easy to find the kind of room you want, and private show prices are right there on screen. There are more promotional pop-ups than elsewhere, though. Our iPad setup guide uses Stripchat as the example.
MyFreeCams: for conversation
MyFreeCams has a real community feel, and a lot of performers have chatted with the same regulars for years. If good conversation is mostly what you’re after, it’s one of the best places to begin. The design is dated and takes a little getting used to. See also the best cam sites for conversation.
So which one?
- “I just want to have a look first.” Chaturbate.
- “I want quiet and quality, and I don’t mind paying for it.” LiveJasmin.
- “I want to be able to phone someone if something goes wrong.” Flirt4Free.
- “I’ll be on my iPad.” Stripchat.
- “I mainly want to talk.” MyFreeCams.
Before you sign up

- Have our safety checklist open when you make your first purchase.
What we left out
Any platform that failed a basic check in our tests is off the list: no company name anywhere, muddy pricing, a subscription box already ticked at checkout, or support that never wrote back. We also skip sites that lean on pop-up advertising or want you to download software. If you’re looking at a site that isn’t here, go through our safety checklist before you hand over your card.
