How to Sign Up on Chaturbate, Step by Step

You’ve picked your platform and now you just want to get in. Good. Chaturbate is one of the easiest sites to start on, because you can make an account, look around for as long as you like, and not spend a cent until you choose to.

The whole thing takes about five minutes. We’ll go through each screen and tell you what to type, and which boxes deserve a second look.

Before you start

Two small things save you trouble later.

First, have an email address ready that only you read. A free Gmail or Outlook address made just for this is ideal. Chaturbate sends the confirmation link there, and later your token receipts.

Second, open a private window in your browser (in Safari it’s called Private, in Chrome it’s Incognito). It means nothing stays in your history once you close it. Our guide to keeping your browsing private has the details for each device.

Step 1: Go to the site

Type chaturbate.com into the address bar yourself. Don’t click links in emails or pop-ups that promise free tokens or “special access”, because copies of the site exist purely to steal logins.

The first screen asks you to confirm you’re an adult. Click to agree and the home page opens with a grid of live rooms.

Step 2: Click Sign Up

The button sits in the top right corner. On a phone, it may be tucked behind the menu icon.

Step 3: Pick your username

It’s what performers and other viewers see in chat, so take a minute over it. You can’t change it yourself later: you’d have to ask support, which is possible but a hassle. Usernames can only contain letters, numbers and underscores.

Keep your first name, last name, town and birth year out of it. Something like “harborwatcher” or “quietreader58” is fine. Avoid anything crude, too. Performers notice usernames, and a polite one gets a warmer welcome.

Step 4: Email, password, date of birth

Enter your separate email address, a password you don’t use anywhere else, and your real date of birth. Lying about your age isn’t an option here: the site is legally required to keep under-18s out, and a wrong date can get the account locked later.

You’ll also be asked your gender. That only affects which rooms the home page suggests first.

Step 5: Accept the terms and submit

Read the checkbox text before you tick it. There’s usually one box for the terms of service and sometimes another for marketing emails. You don’t have to accept marketing emails, and we’d leave that one empty.

Step 6: Confirm your email

Open your inbox and click the link Chaturbate sent. If it hasn’t arrived after a few minutes, look in the spam folder. Until you confirm, some features stay locked.

Step 7: The age check, if your state requires one

Several states now require adult sites to check the age of visitors. In 2024, Texas sued Chaturbate’s operator over its law, and the case settled with the company agreeing to verify Texas users’ ages. If you’re in one of the states with a law like this, you’ll see an extra screen asking you to verify with a photo ID or a quick face scan through a specialist company.

Settings worth changing straight away

Once you’re in, click your username and open the settings. Give it a few minutes.

• Turn off any email notifications you don’t want.
• Look at the privacy options and decide whether your activity should be visible to performers you follow.
• If other people use the same computer, don’t let the browser save your password.

What your new account can do

With a free account you can watch public rooms, chat, follow performers and get a notice when they come online. Your name appears in grey in the chat, which tells performers you don’t have tokens yet. That’s perfectly normal and nobody will mind.
