Crypto appeals to people who want cam purchases as far from their bank as possible. It works, but it’s more fiddly than a card, and it isn’t as anonymous as people assume. Here’s how to do it properly, and when not to bother.
Is it worth it for you?
Be honest with yourself first. If you already own crypto and know how to send it, paying this way is simple. If you’d be buying crypto for the first time just for this, a prepaid card from a pharmacy is almost as discreet and far less risky. See gift cards and prepaid cards on cam sites.
Which sites take it
Two of the biggest platforms take crypto at their token checkout:
| Platform | Coins | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chaturbate | BTC, LTC, DOGE, ETH, BCH, AVAX, DOT | Minimum 250 tokens. Chaturbate says crypto gives its best token rate. |
| Stripchat | USDT, BTC, ETH, USDC and others | One of four payment methods in the Buy Tokens window. |
Other platforms’ options vary, so open the token checkout while logged in to see what’s listed.
Step by step
1. Get crypto into a wallet you control. Buy it on a regulated US exchange such as Coinbase or Kraken, then move it to a wallet app. Some checkouts accept payments straight from an exchange, but sending from your own wallet is more reliable.
2. Choose crypto at checkout. Open the platform’s token page, pick your pack and select the crypto option. You’ll be asked which coin you’re paying with.
3. Copy the address and amount exactly. The site shows a wallet address, an exact amount in that coin, and usually a timer of 15 to 60 minutes. Use the copy buttons rather than typing.
4. Check, then send. Paste both into your wallet. Check the first and last few characters of the address match. Make sure you’re on the right network if your wallet asks. Then send.
5. Wait for confirmation. It can take from a minute to an hour depending on the coin. Your tokens appear once the payment is confirmed.
No undo button
A crypto payment sent to the wrong address, on the wrong network or after the timer runs out can be lost for good. Unlike a card, nobody can reverse it. Start with a small pack the first time.
How private is it really?
More private than a card, but not invisible.
- Nothing appears on your card or bank statement for the token purchase itself.
- But buying crypto on an exchange does show on your bank statement, as a payment to Coinbase or similar.
- The exchange verified your identity when you signed up.
- Every transaction is recorded on a public blockchain, linked to wallet addresses.
So it hides the cam site from your bank, not your identity from the world.
What it costs
Expect to lose 2 to 5 percent to exchange fees, network fees and the conversion rate. Prices also move while you wait. Some sites offer bonus tokens for crypto payments, which can make up for it.
Our view
For people already comfortable with crypto, it’s a reasonable option. For everyone else, a prepaid card or a second credit card gives you most of the privacy and none of the risk. How to pay discreetly on cam sites compares every method side by side.
