Chaturbate puts its Supporter offer at the very top of the token purchase page, so you’ll see it the first time you buy anything. So what does it actually get you?

The price and the tokens

Supporter costs $19.95 a month, billed by card. Chaturbate’s purchase page describes it like this: 200 tokens free, a $20.99 value, when you upgrade your account, plus private messages and no ads.

That makes the sums interesting. A 200-token pack on its own costs $20.99. Upgrading to Supporter costs $19.95 and gives you the same 200 tokens, plus a month of private messages and an ad-free site. For the first month, it’s cheaper than just buying the pack.

The catch is the renewal. It’s a monthly membership, so it keeps charging $19.95 until you stop it.

What it adds

No ads. The free site carries banners and promotions. Supporter removes them, which makes it calmer, especially on a tablet.

Private messages. Supporter unlocks private messages to performers. If you like getting to know performers between shows, this is the feature that matters most.

Anonymous tipping. Supporters can tip without their name showing in the room, using the small arrow next to the Send Tip button. The performer still sees who tipped.

What it doesn’t change

Private shows, tips, tip menus and fan clubs cost exactly the same for Supporters as for everyone else. Each performer sets those prices. And a performer’s fan club is a separate membership with that performer, covered in how to join a fan club on Chaturbate.

Who it’s worth it for

If you’re about to buy a 200-token pack and think you’d like to message a performer, the upgrade is the better deal for that month.

If you visit most days, it’s a modest monthly cost for a calmer site and direct contact with performers.

If you visit now and then, or haven’t decided whether cam sites are for you, skip it. The free account lets you watch and chat, and a 100-token pack costs $10.99.

Stopping it
