The first private show is the moment many people hesitate longest over. It’s paid, it’s one-to-one, and you’re not sure what you’re supposed to do. It’s simpler and much less awkward than it sounds, and performers have met plenty of first-timers before you.
Before: choose someone you’ve talked to
Don’t pick a stranger off the home page. Spend some time in public rooms first and find someone whose personality you like. If you’ve chatted a bit and maybe tipped once, the private show starts like a conversation with someone you know rather than a cold call.
Our guide to finding performers you’ll enjoy talking to can help.
Before: check three things
- The rate. Shown in the room or the performer’s profile, per minute in tokens or credits. It usually works out at $2 to $6 a minute.
- The minimum length. Many performers set a minimum of a few minutes. Leaving early still costs the minimum.
- Private or exclusive. On some sites, others can spy on a standard private show. If you’d rather nobody watched, choose exclusive. See spy, group or private: which one?
Before: buy just enough
Work out what 10 minutes costs and buy roughly that. At 50 tokens a minute that’s 500 tokens, about $45. When your balance runs out the show ends by itself, which is the best spending limit there is.
During: what to say
Say hello. Mention something you enjoyed in their public room. If it’s your first private show, say so. Most performers are glad to know and will lead the way.
Then say what you’d like, plainly and politely. It might be a particular look, a song, or simply a chat about your day. A surprising number of private shows are mainly conversation, and that’s fine.
A few things to avoid: asking for their real name, their location, their social media or to meet up. Asking for anything they’ve already said they don’t do. And haggling over the rate. Our etiquette guide covers the unwritten rules.
During: how billing works
The per-minute rate comes off your balance once a minute. Most sites show a timer and your remaining balance on screen. Glance at it now and then, the way you’d glance at a meter in a taxi.
Your camera stays off unless you choose cam-to-cam. The performer can’t see or hear you.
Ending it
Click End whenever you’re ready. If the conversation’s winding down, a simple “thank you, that was lovely” before you click is kind. Tipping at the end is common if you enjoyed it, but it’s optional.
What it really costs
| Length | At $2 a minute | At $4 a minute | At $6 a minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 minutes | $10 | $20 | $30 |
| 10 minutes | $20 | $40 | $60 |
| 15 minutes | $30 | $60 | $90 |
