Tipping is how most people on 
Chaturbate take part in a room. It’s how you say thanks, ask for something from the menu, or help a performer reach a goal. It’s simple once you’ve done it once.
Sending a tip
You need tokens first. If you haven’t got any yet, see how to buy tokens on Chaturbate.
Under the video you’ll find the Send Tip button. Click it and a small box opens. Type the number of tokens, add a message if you’d like, and send. The tip appears in the chat for everyone to see and the performer usually reacts to it, sometimes by name.
Two things to check before you click:
- the number. A slip from 20 to 200 is easy to make and tips can’t be taken back.
- if you’re a Supporter and want to tip anonymously, the small arrow next to the Send Tip button. The performer still sees who tipped, and some Lovense setups announce the name to the room anyway.
Tip menus
Most rooms post a tip menu, a price list of things the performer will do for a set number of tokens. It might appear in their bio below the video, or a chat bot posts it every few minutes. It looks something like this:

Send the exact amount listed and the performer, or their chat bot, knows what you want. A tip of 49 or 51 might not trigger it.
Menus make costs very clear, which is why we like them for beginners. You know exactly what you’ll get for your tokens before you spend them.
Tip goals
Many rooms have a goal shown at the top of the chat, such as “500 tokens for a dance”. Everyone’s tips count towards it and the performer does the thing once it’s reached. You can tip any amount towards a goal, and small contributions are welcome.
Interactive toy tips
In some rooms, a tip makes a performer’s interactive toy react for a few seconds, with stronger reactions for larger tips. The levels are posted in chat. We explain how it works in how to use an interactive toy on Chaturbate.
Your username color
Your username color tells the room where you stand. Chaturbate’s help center lists them:

| Green | Member of that performer's fan club |
| Red | Moderator |
| Orange | Broadcaster |
Performers notice. If you’d rather not show your tipping level, you can choose a lower color from the gear tab in the chat.
How much is normal?
There’s no rule, and nobody expects a newcomer to tip big. A few rough guides:
- 10 to 25 tokens as a thank-you or a hello
- 25 to 200 tokens for most tip-menu items
- a little more if a performer spent a while chatting with you

A good first tip
Chat for a few minutes, then tip 20 tokens with a friendly message. It costs about $2, and it's the easiest way to go from a face in the crowd to someone the performer remembers.
